Introduction

ClearlyApply (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates jobs.clearlyapply.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. What we collect

Information you provide

• Email address when creating an account or setting up job alerts
• Username if you choose to leave a company review
• Application outcome data if you voluntarily report results

Information collected automatically

• Anonymous session identifiers to count page views and search activity
• Search queries and filters used — not linked to your identity
• Which jobs were viewed and applied to as aggregate counts only
• Browser type and general location at country level only

Information we do NOT collect

• We never ask for access to your personal email inbox
• We never collect your resume unless you explicitly upload one
• We never track you across other websites
• We never build advertising profiles

2. How we use your data

Job alerts: Your email is used only to send job alert notifications you signed up for. You can unsubscribe at any time from any alert email.

Application tracking: If you use our optional email tracking feature, emails forwarded to your tracking address are processed automatically to update your application status. We do not store the full content of forwarded emails — only the outcome signal detected.

Analytics and product improvement: We use aggregated and anonymised usage data — such as search queries, filters used, and jobs viewed — to understand how the service is used and improve it over time. This helps us build better features and surface more relevant jobs.

We will never sell, rent, or share your name, email address, resume, or any directly identifying personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.

Aggregated anonymous data — for example “software engineer is the most searched term in France” — may be used internally or referenced publicly. This data cannot be linked back to any individual.

We may in the future use anonymised behavioural patterns to improve job recommendations and matching. If we do, we will update this policy and notify registered users.

Company reviews: Reviews are posted under your chosen anonymous username. Your real identity is never revealed to employers or other users.

3. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with employers, recruiters, or third party advertisers.

We use the following service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Resend — email delivery
• Neon — database hosting
• Fly.io — server hosting
• Vercel — frontend hosting
• Cloudflare — security and CDN

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process.

4. Data retention

• Job alert emails: retained until you unsubscribe and 30 days after
• Anonymous analytics: 90 days rolling
• Account data: retained while active and deleted 30 days after a deletion request
• Company reviews: retained until you request removal

5. Your rights

Depending on your location you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Data portability

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the site to function:

• Session cookie — keeps you logged in
• Language preference — remembers your selected language
• Theme preference — light or dark mode

We do not use advertising cookies or third party tracking cookies.

7. Children

ClearlyApply is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data please contact us at hello@clearlyapply.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. European users — GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area, your data is processed under the following legal bases:

• Legitimate interest — anonymous analytics to improve the service
• Contract — delivering job alerts you requested
• Consent — optional features such as email tracking

Our data infrastructure is hosted in the United States. By using the service you acknowledge this international transfer.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

9. Changes to this policy

We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent update.
